about "overlook" project alessandra arno' writes:

"Everything arises from a paradox.Derrick De Kerkhove during a Seminar in Bordeaux in 2006 stated that the geographic expansion of our thought goes well beyond our national boundaries: this would happen in an unconscious way, even though he urges that we should have to go over the notions of consciousness and unconsciousness. According to this, we’re living in a world where we constantly face globalization and cannot escape a global dimension of being anymore.
There we thus assist to a “modelling” of affection, to a collective synchronization that make us simultaneously go through the science progress and its failures, within a sort of joint consciousness. The web, the social networks and GoogleEarth have overexposed the individual in the last decades, providing us with the chance of being always visible and present, ready to receive messages and communicate, further to offering a watchful eye on what once were the insurmountable limits of human perception. That’s why we’re talking about media omnipresence, virtual ubiquity and synchronization towards global information.
Science progress is getting to “science fiction”, with no attention to ethical and scientific limitations or to side effects induced by an accelerated progress.
This preamble being, we could be prone to think that technology and science are undergoing a time of “Enlightenment” clearness, that researchers and scholars are progressing under the guidance of true knowledge and farsightedness.
In fact, according to Paul Virilio what we’re undergoing is a real getting back to researching the invisible, to bearing out what cannot be verified, to a Faith into what cannot be either seen or touched. Virilio thinks that scientists are nowadays involved with the investigation of the dark matter and its relevant hidden energy (the particle of God and antimatter – Cern, Genevre), thus accepting all that is not perceived and not expected rather than what is visible and clear.
Such is the paradox, then: in so a highly computerized, globalized and technological society, energies are being spent towards the intangible realm, and science thus becomes a science fiction narration in which everything is revisited and recreated, as if previous findings could bear no value in comparison with all the new ones that could possibly change or even shake the socio-cultural and environmental balances.
A clear will to manipulate the very nature of things under this intention is apparent, in order to re-create an “other” history and an “other” planet through programmes and applications.
My project originates here: from a sort of collective sensitiveness, that can eventually approach a clear resolution only within the intangibility of Faith or the unconsciousness necessary to re-map the historical and geographical properties of the whole planet.
Revisiting the collective tragedies and faithfully watching over the unknown world presented by the science fiction.
The video artworks Stars (2004) and Earth (2010) are a part of this project I’ve been working on for many years, related to the technological gaps affecting the human unconsciousness.
Stars seem to be dealing with a starry sky, that in fact is a starry sky colliding into the viewer, or ever a never ending rain of missiles. The usual poetry of the falling star and relevant message of good omen is distorted into a message of total war and mass destruction. The sky has become a dangerous and deadly place.
Earth presents a post-atomic scenery instead, in which technology is spying on science and no longer able to control its catastrophic side effects; in which media overexposion is a way of controlling and scheduling all individuals; in which nature has partially survived but lost energy; in which everything is standing still.
There we assist to the image of a dying planet, and mankind is upside-down looking at this disquieting prospect bound to the unknown, to the darkness, and cannot help but being fascinated by this new tech Faith.

This the new story, the new Holy scripture, presenting astronauts and satellites as the new spiritual guides and the cathedrals of such a new Faith devoted to the unknown and incomprehensible."

Alessandra Arno works and lives in Milan,Italy.She graduated in Brera Art Academy in Milan and she makes the most of the expressive features of photogragh and video. Her attention is focused over visual and technological "gaps", the aberrations of which are distorting our perception of the real, and likes re-defining such boundaries.She has taken participation in many important videoart exhibitions,festivals,contests and curatorial projects in Utrech, Lisbona, Novosibisk, Paris, Belfast, Usa, Dublin, Hungary, Syria, Bulgaria, Romania, Hong Kong etcc.Her works have been presented also in Italy within video screenings and exhibitions in Milano, Roma, Brescia, Torino, Pescara, Firenze, Napoli together with other operators of national and international reputation. She realized solo exhibitions in Roma /2002/ and Brescia, Ken Damy Contemporary Photo Museum /2002/.Actually she is co-founder and project manager of Visualcontainer and Director of VisualcontainerTV International Videoart webTV.Since May 2010 she is a co-Director of [.BOX] Videoart Project Space, a videoart gallery based in Milan.

Проектът memo.real представлява изследване и динамична компресия в диалогов режим на съвременния градски живот и архитипите на новата колективна памет. Инсталации, дигитални изображения, видео метафори и артефакти от градския живот, дело на художници от България, Германия, Китай, Португалия,Франция и Италия събират парчета от пъзела на градската култура днес. Поканените автори имат трайни интереси в областта на съвременните социални взаимоотношения. Разглеждат се проблемите на алиенацията и комуникацията, на потребителското мислене, на сексуалността,на връзката на градския човек с природата. Неотменна част от проекта са елементите на субкултурата и ъндърграунда, представени чрез симулативна градска разходка по следите на най-известните обекти на стрийт арт във Варна, аналогия на туристическите културни обиколки.

„Тайни агенти” по проекта „Красива Варна” извадени на светло

Близо две години грозните ръждясали и покрити с избеляли предизборни обещания трафопости из центъра на Варна / а от скоро и в други градове/ се преобразиха във весели жизнеродостни човечета, урбан сцени и природни картинки. Странни създания ,птички, котета и риби пеят, танцуват, бърбобят и гледат учудено сивия град. Двама млади художници извършват тайнството нощем,без публика и се опитват да внесат свежест и настроение.Фарс и Маус. На шега варненци казват,че работят по проекта „Красива Варна”. И още - фасади на изоставени къщи, руини в предградията ,пространства под мостове и подлези,провокират артистичната им реакция. Те се разграничават от вандалските драсканици и гледат сериозно на проектите си. Обмислят предварително творбите си и ги адаптират към съответното пространство. Алекси Иванов /1988/ и Виктория Георгиева /1989/ живеят във Варна и от близо две години правят своите стрийт арт акции заедно. Имат над 40 реализирани проекта във Варна, рисували са във В.Търново,Плодвив и София. Десетките им почитатели тънаха в информационно затъмнение кои са всъщност те до официалното им представяне пред публика,станало факт на 4 август в галерия Буларт. Там те представиха „Адрес 9000”- стрийт арт изложба, проект,специално създаден за пространството на галерията.
Силен старт и над 500 души подкрепа. Фенове от различни краища на страната ,както и от чужбина, на възраст от 4 до 65 години аплодираха творците.В Буларт Фарс и Маус имитират улично пространство-стари афиши,изрезки от вестници,урбан боклуци, графити,тагове и шаблони пресъздават градската среда. Инстралация от флакони,преобразени във пъстроцветни градски персонажи мълчаливо наблюдава от картонени етажерки. Птичета и котки,насекоми, човечета на колела,хартиени сърца,тагове и тебеширени рисунки на амбалажна хартия,октопод,валяци и четки за латекс, хартиена китара, трафопост – супермен, полицейска лампа /работеща/, стириопорова камера за наблюдение, скейт с употребявани бояджийски валячета вместо колела, множество фото-колажи и стриийт-картини ,изпълнени в класическа живописна техника, заобикалят уличните крал и кралица – автопортрет на атрактивния тим. И за да бъде историята на „адрес 9000” истинска Фарс и Маус ще преобразят фасадата на галерия „Буларт” с хепънинг на 12 август.

Изложбата е част от програмата „Старт” на галерия „Буларт” за подкрепата на дебютни проекти на млади художници.

Adieu Raya!

Unexpectedly God take back to home my little sister, friend and artist of my gallery Raya. My tender flower, my little star go back to the sky... The loss is indescribable and only her works and memories gives me some comfort ... I thank to all friends and colleagues for words, support, empathy and love ... Hope God give us strength .... Bow before her light memory.

Stefan Halter was born in 1977 in Hildesheim, Germany. In 1999 graduated german language, linguistics and german literature in the University of Leipzig. His contemporary arts activities started since 2000. He works in the field of installation, painting, ready-made, text. He use objects from everyday life or imitated such, also he use trash of civilization. He plays with accepted concepts and manipulates meanings. In his works are pieces of fashion fetishes, street icons, trendy leaders or trendy goods; the slang also often is an artistic tool. He has publications in German journals and literary anthology of modern prose. At present the artist lives and works in Berlin. The project in Bulart gallery is a part of "Young Art" gallery’s program and it is the result of a two-years preparation. The “pigsartpigs “ project, provoked by anti/utopical reality into the Orwell’s books is a reflection of Stephan Halter’s point of view about communication into the art system; it is a research about relations between art-gallery-customers, about the links between audience and curators. Radical and ironic, this research expresses autor's disagreement with the position of commercial art structures and counterfeiting. He used the pig as a paradoxical symbol of good and evil into the system. He asked questions about manipulation by the visual language and at the same time he provokes a reflection, whether things are as they seem. Pig by nature, he writes in his text for exhibition is essentially smart and clean being. Pigs serve the people with their bodies, but same time they live and multiply in unclean environment, become a victim of manipulation in that same environment and in the end they become appellative for the bad behavior. Games by words, manipulative meanings, grotesque and irony, help author’s research. Meat and gold are as a symbol of wealth, buttons "Armani"- false lustre, cans, syringes, homemade meat making machine, security camera and pigs in various situations/some of them are in golden colors/, whole this are part of the means in this artistic dissection. Radical by the visual language, but loaded with humor, the exhibition provokes many questions about the place and role of contemporary artist in well structured system in our urban and consumables society.

Акция , 15 март 2009, Морска градина ,Варна, Алея на космонавтите/1/
Вечнозелено дърво вид arborvitae / дървото на живота/, картон, анонимни арт космонавти на възраст от 3 до 50 години
Акцията е резултат от търсенето на идентичност , както и отговор на въпроса какво може за провокира създаването и поддържането на живота на българска галерия за съвременно изкуство. Акцията е и финалната фаза на проекта „ docu/mental exhibition” , представен в галерия Буларт, който разглежда модели за симулиране и манипулиране на арт историята . Засаждането на дърво в алеята на космонавтите символизира желанието за изследване на необятното пространство на съвременното изкуство, знак за сериозните намерение и героични усилия за оцеляване в ненормална среда. Дървото Thuja е от рода на иглолистните вечнозелени дървета, наричани от някои народи дървото на живота – arborvitae. Заглавието на акцията „Нюстън, имаме ли пробем?” е аналогия на разговора между космонавтите и космическата централа в Америка по време на злополучното пътуване на совалката Аполо 13. На картонената табела до засадената туя е подставен надпис : ”заниманията със съвременно изкуство, доказват извънорбитален произход…….dora bulart 1996….. art ufo gallery…”

бележка: 1 - Алеята на космонавтите във Варна е създадена през май 1961 година,когато по време на посещение на първия космонавт Юрий Гагарин бива посадено дърво. По-късно през годините много космонавти от Русия, България , Куба засаждат дървета. В момента в алеята пред всяко дърво стои циментова плоча с името на звездния герой, космическия кораб и годината на пътешествието.

Houston, we’ve got a problem? action, 15th March 2009 Sea Garden,Varna, Alley of astronauts /1 / a tree kind of arborvitae , cardboard, anonymous art spacemen from 3 to 50 age

Action is the result of searching for identity and the answer to the question what provoked the creation and maintenance of the life of a bulgarian contemporary art gallery. Also the action is a final phase of the project “docu / mental exhibition”, presented in Bulart gallery. The project researches the models for simulation and manipulation in art history. Planting a tree in the alley of astronauts in sea garden in Varna is a symbol for this research and discoveries into the field of contemporary art and also it is a sign of serious intent and heroic efforts to survive in abnormal environments. Thuja tree is a kind of coniferous evergreen trees, some people called it the tree of life - arborvitae. The title of the action "Houston, we’ve got a problems?" is an analogy for a dialogue between astronauts and the space central station in America during the voyage of Apollo 13. On the cardboard close to the tree there is an inscription: "activities of contemporary art, demonstrating outside orbital origin...dora bulart 1996... art ufo gallery ... "

a note: 1 - Alley of the astronauts in Varna was established in May 1961, during the visit of the first astronaut Yuri Gagarin. He was planted a tree. Later in years, many astronauts from Russia, Bulgaria, Cuba, planted a trees. Currently in the alley in front of each tree is a cement slab with the name of the star hero, name of his space vehicle and the year of journey

The exhibition, arranged in Bulart gallery, simulate museum space, which were collected relics and evidence of existence. Trying to record events and processes, simulation of history, presented with a dose of irony and humor. Objects in the project are real newspapers, magazines, catalogs, invitations and posters, belongs of the real archives of the real gallery Bulart, collected in last 12 years. More of 100 kilos in variable dimension is documentation for gallery’s activity. Another object is a door from WC room in gallery and it was place for graffiti reaction in whole 2003, made of 10 artists and journalists close to the gallery. Three glass jars of preserves are consistent - a large sea salt crystals and blue pigment powder / property of the artist Simeon Stoilov/, stub of cigarettes and ash in second one and third is empty. The title of work is called "Tears, hope and reflections /of the lady- gallerist/. Interactive text installation in English "it's my ... ..." stayed in the wall and everybody from the audience can write in it. To make it easy there are jokers - "work", "love", "life", "death", "hobby", "home", "museum", "pain", "joy", "passion", "hope". texts and documents are base tools for art research in the space. By means of ready-made, installation and object this project looking for answers about the role of curator and gallerist today, about simulation and manipulation of the art history by documentation, ask about the need of contemporary arts museum in Bulgaria and culture policy.The project is a reflection of the thinking about relation artist –institution and need of working market for contemporary art. The project was made by the curator of the gallery Dora Doncheva. here she plays a role of the artist and this game is a example for manipulation of history by means of documentation, it is example of changing the places and meaning in present art situation. Same time to be a owner/curator/manager of gallery for contemporary art in Bulgaria is a conceptual project , de facto. In this case Bulart Gallery is Dora Doncheva’s project and as a result of this art symbiosis was born a new structure or form, called Dora Bulart – it is not a gallery, not a human being – it is something looking for identity. Is it possible to find the answer we will know this saturday - 14 march 2009, when the project will finish by action in The Sea Garden in Varna.

Изложбата, подредена в галерия Буларт, имитира музей на изкуство, в който са събрани реликви и свидетелства за съществуване. Опит за документиране на събития и процеси, симулиране на история, представени с доза ирония и чувство за хумор. Обекти в проекта са реални вестници, списания, каталози, покани и плакати, част от архива на истинската галерия Буларт. Реалната врата от санитарното галерийно помещение, била основа на артистичен десант през 2003 г. Графитите по нея са оставили варненски творци, близки до галерията . В три стъклени буркана от консерви са поставени последователно - морска сол на едри кристали и син пигмент/ собственост на художника Симеон Стоилов/, угарки от цигари и пепел, а третия е празен. Работата се нарича „Сълзи, размишления и надежда /на галеристката/” . Интерактивна текст-инсталация на английски „it’s my…………”, която всеки може да допише или да използва висящите жокери – работа,любов, живот, смърт, хоби, дом, музей, болка, радост, страст, надежда.
С помощта на реди мейда, обекта и инсталацията се поставят въпроси за ролята на галериста и куратора днес, за манипулацията и симулацията на историята, за нуждата от музей за съвременно изкуство, за частната галерия като културна институция, за взаимоотношенията артист- институция. Проектът е дело на куратора на галерия Буларт Дора Дончева, което е част от концепцията на проекта и онагледява играта на значения и смисли и смяната на местата на понятия и представи. В конкретния случай галерия Буларт се явява концептуален проект на Дора Дончева и в следствие на тази симбиоза се формира нова структура или форма , наречена Дора Буларт- нито галерия , нито човек - която търси идентичност.
Docu/mental exhibition продължава до 14 март. Финалната фаза е акция в морската градина във Варна, за която обаче ще получите информация по-късно.

"You are involved...just like me",collages by Kaloian Iliev- Kokimoto

Behind the exhibition collages "You are involved...just like me" remains the idea of past, present and future in a manipulative reality - and its connection with the present political and global world changes in which we are all involved.

Kaloyan Iliev – Kokimoto /1979, Varna/ has MA in fine arts in Veliko Tarnovo University, Bulgaria and specialization in graphics in Academy of Fine Arts, Lodz, Poland. He has taken participation in several international collective exhibitions and curator projects in Bulgaria, Poland, Turkey, Italy, Denmark, Macedonia, France, Belgium, Canada and Spain. He has seven solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and Poland and five awards for prints and Ex Libris from international forums for graphic arts in Poland, Spain, Italy, Macedonia and Bulgaria. Lives and works in Varna, Bulgaria.
